Mr. Brooks went to Detroit in 1895 asgeneral manager of the Rapid Railway, an interurban lineoperating between Detroit and Port Huron. This was hisfirst connection with the electric railway business. In 1903the Rapid Railway having come under the control of theDetroit United Railway, Mr. Brooks was made assistantgeneral manager of the latter company, and shortly afterhe was made general f. w.
