Plaque on the gateway of the Home Office in Queen Anne's Gate, London, marking the site of the house of Jeremy Bentham.


This plaque marking the site of Jeremy Bentham's house at 50 Queen Anne's Gate was unveiled in October 2004. It is on the gateway of the Home Office which now stands upon the site. Bentham lived in the house for 40 years; it had first been rented and then purchased by his father when Jeremy was 15 and an undergraduate at Oxford and was bequeathed to him on his father's death in 1792. The house became known as Queen's Square Place.
