A., eyes in the northwest are beginning to turn towardPortland and its promise for a successful convention of theNorthwest Electric Light & Power Association in the able leadership of Guy W. Talbot affairs in thisassociation are in excellent status. Guy W. Talbot is president of the Pacific Power andLight Company, Portland, Ore. Mr. Talbot was born inCenterville, Mich., on August 12, 1873, and was educated in. Guy W. Talbot, president Northwest Electric Light and PowerAssociation the public schools of Des Moines, Iowa, and the College ofEmporia. He entered railroad work in Des Moines in 1891,following that occupation until March, 1910. During that timehe was successively traveling freight and passenger agentfor the Des Moines, Northern and Western Railway, travelingfreight agent for the Iowa Central Railway, general traveling-freight agent for the same road, traffic manager for thePeoria and Pekin Terminal Railway, from which position hewas promoted to be general manager and later to be vice-president, serving in the latter capacity from 1900 to 1905;vice-president and general manager of the Astoria and Colum-bia River Railway Company and Corvallis and Eastern Rail-way Company in 1905, and from 1906 to 1910 vice-presidentand general manager of the Oregon Electric Railway Com- 206 JOURNAL OF ELECTRICITY [Vol. 40—No. 4 pany.
