Reflection nebula NGC 1333, composite image

Composite image of the reflection nebula NGC 1333. This nebula is located approximately 1000 light-years away from Earth in the Perseus molecular cloud. It is a young region of very active star formation. NGC 1333 is classed as a reflection nebula as it shines only because it reflects the light of the nearby stars. This image is a composite of data from the Subaru Telescope at the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) in Hawaii, USA and the National Optical Astronomy Observatory (NOAO) in Arizona, USA.
