TATA box-binding protein complex. Molecular model showing a yeast TATA box-binding protein (TBP) complexed with a strand of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and transcription factor IIB. TBP is a general transcription factor that binds specifically to the TATA box DNA sequence during DNA transcription. TATA boxes are found in the promoter region of a gene, the area where transcription is initiated from.
