He married Februarj- 12, 1864, FuniceD. Burgess, of Providence, R. I., whose great grandfather, Nathaniel Phillips, ofR. I., served in the Revolution and was aCaptain and Quartermaster on the staff ofOeneral Washington. His youngest son, James G. S. Sherman,was one of the Minute Men in the lateSpanish-American war, serving as a privatein the United States Marine Corps. Residence, Providence, R.
