Owned by the photographer this Enfield Bullet is 10 years old Bullets are a British designed single cylinder four stroke motorcycle from the 1950s They are still made in India today and the company has a loyal following for its traditional style and looks The bikes are popular with expatriates in Nepal because they stand out from the crowd of ubiquitous smaller bikes imported from India and China They also sound wonderful as only an old British single can This photograph was taken in the south of the Kathmandu valley in June 2005 This picture was captured using a digital camera without its infrared filter and the result is the same as traditional black and white infrared film It produces a surreal grainy image with darkened skies extra contrast and often a darker slightly ethereal mood
