Alness Old Parish Church lies in ruins on the way into the town from Evanton and went out of use sometime in the mid 1940's. The core of the building is the remains of an old Norse church built somewhere between 1058AD-1287AD! It was later added to and extended in both the 18th and 19th Centuries. This building has been on my radar to photograph for a while. Today's picture is a "first pass" as I was too short on time to really go digging into the historical fabric of the build and try to record some of the more ancient features, but I will get there at some stage!
