Toxicology hospital ward. Doctors and nurses treating a patient in a case of severe drug intoxication. Cardiorespiratory assistance has taken over the functions of the heart and lungs. This allows the patient's body to survive while the toxins are excreted and removed. This technique, in use since 2002, is the only service of its type available in Paris. Photographed in the medical and toxicological resuscitation department at the Lariboisiere-Fernand Widal hospital, part of the public healthcare system (AP-HP) in Paris, France.
