These are amongst the showiest and most effective of our summer-flow- ering garden plants,and deserve much greater popularity. Should be planted out after danger from frost is past, and produce throughout the summer their large spikes of brilliantly colored flowers. In autumn the tops should be cut back and the roots stored in dry soil or sand in a frost-free cellar. Bidwilli. Brilliant strawberry-red flowers in spikes 18 to 24 inches long. The plants grow from 3 to 4 feet high. Crista=Galli Compacta. Grows about 30 inches high and produces very large crimson-scarlet flowers on spikes 15 to 18 inches long.
