Designed by Hungarian architect Imre Steindl, who took his inspiration from the Houses of Parliament in London, the Hungarian Parliament Building stands on a broad curve of the river Danube in Budapest. It was built in the Gothic revival style and inaugurated in 1896 on the 1,000th anniversary of the founding of the state of Hungary.
