Blue-painted Jar from Malqata with Hathor Emblem, New Kingdom, Dynasty 18, ca. 1390–1353 , From Egypt, Upper Egypt, Thebes, Malqata, Palace of Amenhotep III, 1910–11, pottery, slip, paint, H. 21 cm (8 1/4 in), This jar has been decorated with a series of personified ankh hieroglyphs. Each ankh has an eye of Horus, or 'wedjat' eye, painted in the loop at the top, and two outstretched arms painted red. The best preserved ankh holds two baskets, one of which contains an emblem of the goddess Hathor
