It is characterized by the sudden-ness of its accession and the great severity of the pain. The danger of per-foration of the drum in these cases is so imminent, that it is proper toenjoin upon the patient the necessity of avoiding even to blow his noseor to sneeze, lest the membrane should be ruptured by the outwardpressure of the air. The treatment is the same as that already directedfor external otitis. Puncture of the Membrana Tympani.
