At the close of the spi-ing term a class of eight young ladies who hadfinished our course of study in the Spanish department took the pro-vincial examinations held in Matanzas during the summer for certifi-cates necessary for teaching in the public schools. All of these girlswere members of tlie Methodist Church, and all but one of them werescholarship girls. In September one of them was employed in theMethodist school in Camaguey as primary teacher, and Is giving sat-isfaction in her work. Several of our pupils of former years havepositions in public schools. The money appropriated by the Board was not suflficient to meetall expenses in buying, building, and repairing the
