Lana’i North Shore - Shipwreck Beach - Tree Tunnel for Menehunes
On the north shore of the Hawaiian Island of Lana’i, is a remote area known as Kaiolohia AKA Shipwreck Beach. It is an area of strong winds and rough seas. It is also a graveyard for ships that have been sunk here both accidentally and on purpose. The access is not paved so it is highly recommended that you rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle to go here. This spot has excellent views of Moloka’i and Maui. There are petroglyphs and other points of interest to explore. You never know what you might find on Shipwreck Beach — for example, a couple of coconuts. When you have a camera in your hand, some things catch your eye — oh, how curious — a little tunnel in the trees — must be for Menehunes.
