Mr. Morris has had a wideexperience as a fire fighter during his25 years of service in the fire depart-ment of Lawrence. For nearly nineyears he was closely associated withChief Beal who was regarded as acompetent department head, and later,as Captain and Deputy Chief, heparticipated in and directed the suc-cessful handling of difficult fires. In January, 1918, Deputy ChiefMorris was appointed Acting Chief,succeeding Chief Dennis E. Carey,who was removed by the new Direc-tor of Public Safety, Alderman PeterCarr. Air. Morris is married.
