It is eleven years since we first introduced this magnifi- cent variety, and so steadily has it gained in popular favor that it is now recognized "as the best and most profitable mild red pepper for market or family use. Every one who lias seen our crops has been enthusiastic in praise of the beautiful plants, crowded with the large, handsome fruits, of a bright ruby-red color. The peppers ordinarily grow four and a half to six inches long by Three and a half to four and a quarter inches through. Added to their beautiful color, when ripe, is the great desideratum that they are remarkably mild and pleasant to the taste; in this respect unequaled by any other Red Pepper. So mild and pleasant is their flavor that they can eveu be sliced and eaten with pepper and vinegar (like tomatoes and cucumbers), and make a very pleasant and appetizing salad; while for stuffing or for pepper-hash no other variety can equal them.
