View SW of 5 beehive huts inside the circular stone wall of Caherdorgan North cashel, Dingle, County Kerry, Republic of Ireland. Two of the huts were later joined together by building a third against them with interconnecting doorways. The entrance of a former souterrain (underground stone passage) is still visible in one of the huts. More of a defended homestead rather than a fort, with the enclosure wall used to pen & protect stock rather than offer strong defence. Probably begun in the Late Iron Age & used into the Early Medieval period. On a slope overlooking Smerwick Harbour (rear R) with the peak of Croaghmarhin (centre rear) & Mount Eagle (rear L).
