Metascutellum prix, Devonian trilobite fossil. Trilobites were arthropods that fed as they crawled on the seabed. They lived between 500 and 300 million years ago and are now extinct. This specimen dates from the Middle Devonian, and was found in Eifelian stage rocks in Laatchana, Oufatene, Morocco. It is a complete individual with a large rounded tail with a wide but small cephalon. The glabella widens forward with the eyes set far back. The thoracic pleurae terminate in long curved spines. The entire exoskeleton is covered in granules. This specimen is centimetres long.
