Slender mongoose (Galerella sanguinea) sunning itself at dawn. This species of mongoose is found throughout sub-Saharan Africa. It is primarily carnivorous and insects make up the bulk of its diet. The slender mongoose will also feed on fruit, eggs, carrion and small animals, such as lizards and rodents, when they become available. Photographed in South Africa, in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
