Fore wing with the apex rounded, the termen slightly ex- curved at middle and excised towards tornus, hardly crenulate; veins 3 and 5 from near angle of cell; 6 from upper angle; 9 from 10 anastomosing with 8 to form the areole; 11 from cell. Hind wing with veins 3, 4 from angle of cell; o almost fully developed from above angle; 6, 7 from upper angle; 8 anastomosing with the cell near base only. 5503. Melamera velutina, n. sp. Head and thorax bluish grey mixed with bhick-brown ; palpi black, white at base, at extremity of 2nd joint and at base and extremity of 3rd joint; vertex of head with black bar; tegulse with broad black-brown band ; fore tibiae and the tarsi black-brown ringed with white; abdomen reddish brown mixed with grey, the crests black-brown. Fore wing pale rufous with a large rather quadrate black-brown patch on inner medial area defined by whitish and extending into the cell where its upper edge is slightly angled at middle and before the discocellulars ; some black-brown suffusion at base of inner area; slight subbasal and antemedial white striaj from costa defined on each side by blackish ; a medial black striga.
