Seed potatoes have had an un- usual demand. Some kinds of seeds are completely out of the market, among these being the Irish Cobbler potato and the small navy bean. The bedding season has begun at the city market and numerous kinds of stock are beginning to arrive in good shape. All are glad to note that the prices are better than in previous years. Hartje & Elder are cutting some su- perb delphiniums. They have an ex- cellent crop of sweet peas coming on for May and June sales. Some seedlings of their own in orchid-flowering sweet peas are of especially pleasing shades. They have done much crossing for car- nation seedlings for next year. E. E. T. PITTSBURGH, PA. The Market. The spring-like weather has brought the magnolia, cherry and peach trees into blossom, as well as daffodils and some of the earlier tulips. Business among the wholesalers last week did not have much snap to it. There was more than an abundance of everything and buyers were scarce. The warm weather brought in everything at once and the worst glut of the season was on. The street boys cleaned it up Saturday, but the cash did not have much to show. The retailers had a fair business and decorations kept some of them busy. Various Notes.
