Memorial day business promises to be very good. As a whole the suijply of flowers is good, and fairly large, biat it is not up to that for this occasion in the past several years. The market tightened up at the beginning of this week and prices in some lines took a decided jump. Roses are in good sup- ply. The general quality of the offer- ings in this line is very hig'h. The carnation receipts shortened up some- what at the beginning of this week, but this was due mainly to an eft(.irt on the part of the growers to begin to ac- cumulate a supply for the demand the middle of this week. Sweet peas are plentiful. Practically no Easter lilies may be had, while offerings in rubrums and callas are somewhat lim- ited. Some candidum lilies are avail- able for the Memorial day business. Gladioli are finding an excellent mar- ket. The few peonies that come in sell readily. The cut for Memorial day is far V)eIow that of other yeai-s. Iris has been selling fairly well. Other offer- ings are stocks, calendulas, marguer- ites and cornflowers. P. J. dinger was in New Castle, Ind., at his greenhouses a part of last wei^k. He states that his prospects for Memo- rial day are very bright. All of the local wholesale florists will close on Sundays hereafter during the summer months. The first Sunday closing will be June 1.
