Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point is pictured aerially Sept. 18, 2019. MCAS Cherry Point, formerly known as Cunningham Field, began construction 17 days prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor. During World War II, the air station was used to train Marines for the Pacific theater and to conduct anti-submarine operations. MCAS Cherry Point is scheduled for massive construction in the coming years to accommodate the fielding of the Joint Strike Fighter, also known as the F-35. ( Marine Corps photos taken by Lance Cpl.
