The locomotive's custom heritage paint (or tribute paint) scheme honors The Milwaukee Road, a bygone railroad that used to run on the tracks occupied by the train. Diesels painted in such a manner are fairly rare and are designated as Heritage units or Heritage locomotives linking to the industry's past. Metra provides a network of lines connecting Chicago with its extensive number of suburban communities.
