Neotropical snail-eater (Dipsas indica), Ecuador. Dipsas feed exclusively on snails which are extracted from their shells in a process which may take hours. These snail-eating snakes, as a result of their feeding habit, lack a throat groove, and their dentition, with the elongated front teeth on the lower jaw is different from all other colubrid snakes.
