Cloned babies. Conceptual computer artwork of human foetuses developing inside enclosed chambers, representing human cloning. The foetuses are connected to a central supply (upper centre) by their umbilical cords (pink). A human clone is a person whose genetic material, or DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), is identical to that of another human being. Human cloning is theoretically capable of producing a limitless number of genetically-identical people, by replacing DNA present in a human egg with adult DNA and allowing the egg to develop. Many regard human cloning as unethical.
