The usual dullness expected during the summer months is with us. and occasional funerals take most of the stock, yet there is too much coming in to clean out reg- ularly. Practically all kinds of flow- ers are too plentiful and the quality is excellent for the time of year, as we have had no excessive heat to injure stock. Never before have the sweet peas been so fine or so plentiful. As- ters are arriving, and this year no doubt will be better property. Some trouble at planting time was experi- enced and too many died at the time of transplanting. Carnations in the field have done well, but no doubt will be scarce this fall. Roses and dahlias are making a great show In the city. Our dahlia society ?nail surely give us an exhibition worth seeing. NOTES. There are no new greenhouses be- ing built here this year and the Amer- ican Florist Company's directory will show several names less for our city. It would seem that with the city to practically be doubled within the next two years, that new names should be added instead of being taken off. Several of the growers have gone into the production of vegetables on a stronger basis—prospects are g«od for them to make better money than in the growing of flowers. Tomatoes are the favorite with prices good. There promises to be quite an advance in the price of fuel this fall, but the fuel proposition in this l
