Appel has been appointed as-sistant electrical superintendent of thePacific Electric Railway. Mr. Appelfirst affiliated himself with the PacificElectric Railway in June, 1912, under Anderson, electrical served in the capacity of operator,electrical inspector, estimator and powerclerk. In December, 1915, he was ad-vanced to the position of chief clerk tothe electrical superintendent, in whichcapacity he served until April 1, 1921,when he was promoted to his COL. J. F. Stricklandentered the utility field as manager ofthe Waxahachie Light & Power Com-pany, in which position he continueduntil 1902 when he became associatedwith Judge M. B. Templeton, Dallas,now head of the legal department ofthe Strickland interests, and Ocie Good-win, also an official of the Stricklandcompanies. These three men conceived and car-ried through the idea of a central elec-tric generating plant to supply cur-rent for a number of northern Texascities out of which eventually grew thepresent great company known as theTexas Power & Light Company. At this time the territory north ofDallas appealed to the three men
