The procession of the Saints Mary Jacobe and Mary Salome from the church of Saintes Maries de La Mer into the sea through the streets of Saintes Maries de la Mer takes place on the May 25th every year, the day after a similar procession of the the Gypsy patron Saint Sarah the previous day. The participants comprise non gypsy locals and gypsies who have come from all over the world. Many non-gypsy locals participate, wearing Arlésienne traditional costume.
