The exterior of the Centre for Contemporary Art "Luigi Pecci" in Prato near Florence, Tuscany (see description for sculpture)

L'Exegi Monumentum Aere Perennius by Anne and Patrick Poirier, Prato On Via della Repubblica in the garden of the Luigi Pecci Centre for Contemporary Art This split column in front of the museum has become one of the symbols of the town of Prato, along with Moore’s sculpted arch. Here is what the Poiriers say about their sculpture, ‘Time swing, historical swing, civilisation swing, the collapse of the gigantic columns, shaking up the foundations. We live in an unprecedented historical period. We are witnessing a global shake-up. The base of our sculpture is leaning to one side and the drum of the huge column faces the sun. Other, which are left to balance unstably, form a kind of monumental arch under which people pass. The following inscription can be read: Exegi monumentum aere perennis.’ (Article by APT di Prato)
