30ft (10m) high, artificial Christmas tree in Poole, Dorset. Damaged, most likely by vandalism
In 2009 Poole town centre decided to install an artificial tree rather than a real fir tree, according to the press reports (Bournemouth Echo and BBC) this was, at least partly, on health and safety grounds. There was uproar in the local press, and a facebook page against the tree, with over 4,500 members. Within days the tree was damaged - vandalism was suspected. On 8th December it was replaced with a traditional real fir tree
