In Greek mythology, Deucalion was the son of Prometheus and father of Hellen (ancestor of Hellenes, or Greeks), He and his wife, Pyrrha (both pictured here), were the only survivors of a great flood and were told to cast behind them the bones of their mother‚ that is, the stones of the earth these became human beings.
