Itsfuture need give no cause for as it is. in what may be called acentral west-end position, it is free onthe one hand from the difficulties whichpress more heavily every year on all mid-town churches ; while, on the other hand,it does not suffer, like many suburbanchurches, from a circumscribed area ofoperation. Its position will be an enviableone for many years to come, and for this,as for many other advantageous circum-stances, it is indebted to the foresight ofits founders. D2 XIV.—RUTHRIESTON PARISH Ruthrieston Parish Church. In 1876 the kirk-session of HolbnrnParish, under the minister, Rev. (now Dr.)J. A. MClymont, resolved to take stepsto provide religious services for the out-lying part of the parish in the Ruthriestonand Bridge of Dee district. In lookingabout for a suitable meeting-place it wasfound that the old school of Ruthriestoncould be had for the purpose from MissDuthie, the donor of the Duthie Park. Inthat building services were held everySunday afternoon at three oclock, andwere conducted either by Dr. MClymontor his assistant for two years, when itwas found necessary, in order to developthe work, to secure larger this time the new church at Ferry-hill was almost ready for occupation, some negotiation, the iron churchwhioh had been in use there, was securedfor Ruthrieston, the minister and kirk-session of Holbnrn being assisted in thematter by the Home Mission Committeeof the Church of
