Double Rise Trap. brought out the well-known Swiftsure trap andbird, and started the manufacture for the firsttime in England, substituting a pitch compoundfor the red clay that had hitherto been thematerial employed. Clubs—It was not until 1893 that any seri-ous attempt was made to establish clay pigeonclubs in England, when shooting rules weredrawn up, and the Inanimate Bird Shoot-ing Association was inaugurated at a meet-ing held at Andertons Hotel, its raison detrebeing the promotion and affiliation of this, the St. Georges and WealdstoneClubs were started, and at once secured anumerous membership. The governing bodyof the Association was, however, composed en-tirely of members of trades interested in themovement, and, although progress was made,this fact militated against success. In 1894 theConstitution of the Association was changedand proportional representation introduced,giving a club one delegate for every twenty-livemembers. This change has worked well, a
