In elevation the new music stand presents acentral feature, having a frontage of fifty-five feet and a height ofseventy feet, flanked on either side by Corinthian columns. Withinthe high central structure is the niche or band stand, semi-circularin plan, with ample capacity for one hundred musicians. Extendingfrom the Corinthian columns on each side are colonnades fifty-twoand one-half by fifteen feet wide, each supported by sixteen Ionic columns. Former City Officials 211. D DR. GUIDO E. GUIDO E CAGLIERI,former member of the Boardof Supervisors, and a practicing phy-sician and surgeon of high standingin San Francisco, was born in thiscity April 21. 1871. the son of Georgeand Rosa Caglieri. He obtained hisearly education in St. Ignatius Col-lege and having decided to followthe medical profession, entered thatdepartment of the University of Cali-fornia, from which he was gradu-ated in 1892 with the degree of ^ He went abroad to continue hisstudies and attended Royal , England, obtaining his de-gree from that institution in 1895. On returning to San Francisco heentered upon the practice of his pro-fession and also became prominentin the civic activities of the North Beach section. His ability andtraining brought him early recognition, as evidenced by his ap-pointment as associate surgeon of St. ]\Iarys Hospital, which po-sition he occupies at the present time. Dr. C
