I also carry with me most agreeable souvenirs ofanother excellent friend, Dr. Campbell, of the KoyalNavy, attached to the British Consulate; and am verygrateful to Sir E. Schomberg, the English Consul, whohas shown me much attention and sympathy. Here letme, likewise, express my obligations to Mgr. Pallegoix,to the American Protestant missionaries, and, indeed, tomost of the Consuls and resident strangers, who have allshown me kindness; and I would particularly mentionthe name of M. DIstria, the new French Consul.
