Syrian refugees landing in Efthalou, on the Greek island of Lesvos. They have been trafficked from Turkey in an inflatable boat. They are fleeing the civil war in Syria, which began in 2011. Photographed in September 2015, when up to 4,000 refugees a day were landing on the island, overwhelming the authorities.
