26/05/2022 Sheerness On Sea. Isle Sheppey UK Sheerness On Sea is a seaside town located on the Kent side of the Thames Estuary. The WWI Ace fighter pilot James McCudden, VC grew up in the town and was awarded a VC in March 1918 for his exceptional bravery and devotion to duty scoring 57 victories. A memorial and tribute to James McCudden, VC is located adjacent to the town’s war memorial.
