The Balintore Mermaid Seaboard Village Easter Ross Scotland

The mermaid forms part of the Seaboard Sculpture Trail which also includes three giant salmon in the sea, and three slate monuments sited in a Sculpture Park on the land. The project was funded by organisations including the Heritage Lottery Fund, Highland 2007 and the Highland Council along with grants from the Scottish Executive. The bronze mermaid has been placed on a coastal rock to celebrate the area's links with the sea. Statues of three 10ft salmon are also sited below the high-water line. The area already has a sculpture trail inspired by the many Pictish stone carvings and standing stones around the Seaboard villages of Shandwick, Hilton and Balintore. Scotlands equivelant to Copenhagen's Little Mermaid.
