Red-crowned Parrot Amazona viridigenalis Pharr Texas United States 28 March Adult Psittacidae
Red-crowned Parrot feeding on mulberries. Also known as Green-cheeked Amazon, or Mexican Red-headed Parrot, this is an endangered parrot native to northeastern Mexico. The wild population of less than 2000 birds is dwindling due to the illegal export of trapped birds from Mexico to the United States and the destruction of habitat.
