EAST CHINA SEA, Japan (March 27, 2018) Mineman Seaman Camargo Lopez, from San Diego, Calif., inserts a flag staff onto a float to begin a mine sweep assessment during a Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) aboard the Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship USS Chief (MCM 14). Chief is undergoing INSURV to examine the ship’s operational capabilities and readiness for future mine sweeping operations.
