Philip II of Macedon, father of Alexander the Great, was assassinated by Pausanias at the wedding celebrations of his daughter.


Philip II ruled Macedonia from 359 to 336 He was planning an expedition against Persia when he was assassinated (pictured here) by a young Macedonian noble named Pausanias at the wedding celebrations of his daughter. He was succeeded by his son Alexander, later Alexander the Great.
