On the maternal side he was a great-grandson of President Stiles of Yale, a grandson ofRev. Ezra Stiles Gannett, a prominent UnitarianMinister of Boston in his day, and his mother isMrs. Kate Gannett Wells, the well-known writer,public speaker, and reformer, of the same attended the Prince School and Mr. NicholsPrivate School, Boston, he entered Harvard, wherehe pursued the regular Academic course and wasgraduated with the Class of 1891. After leavingCollege, he engaged in the life insurance businessin Boston, which he followed successfully for some.
