Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope, illustration. This telescope, being developed and built by NASA, is scheduled for launch in the mid-2020s. It is an infrared space observatory that will look for planets around other stars, as well as cosmological surveys of dark energy and the early history of the universe. The coronagraph instrument will allow the first direct imaging of exoplanets orbiting other stars.
