Japan: Count Hasegawa Yoshimichi (1 October 1850 - 27 January 1924), Governor General of Korea (r. 1916-1919), early 20th century. Count Hasegawa Yoshimichi was a field marshal in the Imperial Japanese Army and served as the Japanese Governor General of Korea from 1916 to 1919. His decorations included the Order of the Golden Kite (1st class) and Order of the Chrysanthemum. He was the son of a samurai fencing master, and fought for the Choshu forces during the Boshin War in 1868. He joined the newly formed Imperial Japanese Army in 1871, serving initially as a captain.
