A large North Italian spetum,circa 1500. Broad tapered thrusting blade with central ridge,a maker's mark struck on either side. Punched inscription "Maria"(?)in Gothic letters at the base of the blade. Two large lateral hooks curved towards the blade. Remnants of punched decorations on each side. Faceted,slightly conical socket with two side straps. Replaced hardwood shaft(shortened). Length of the thrusting blade 75 cm,width of the hooks 68 cm,overall length 213 cm.
