A ramp ceremony is a memorial service for a fallen Soldier, and it is held at the airport prior to departure of the aircraft carrying the deceased Soldier, or the arrival of the same aircraft at the deceased Soldier’s home base. 5th AR BDE’s main purpose is to partner with National Guard and Reserve units and prepare them to deploy into harm’s way, and return to their families afterwards.
