Sublime 5th Century seated Buddha from Eastern India (Sarnath) in the British Museum. This sandstone statue of Shakyamuni depicts him sitting on a lion's throne with his feet on a double lotus. His hands are in the teaching mudra, delivering his first teaching in the Deer Park at Sarnath. Established in 1753, the British Museum is probably the largest and most famous museum in the to all aspects of human history, art and culture, the museum is located in Bloomsbury, London.
