The company was designated as E and attachedto the Sixth Regiment. Each member immediately puta shoulder to the wheel and made every effort to estab-lish a degree of eflicienc3% second to none in the regi-ment, in which they were more than successful. TheWallace Hall which was located on the present site ofthe Masonic Temple was secured as a drill room and fora short time was the home of the company, later remov-ing to the old skating rink where it remained abouttwo years when the present armory was leased andafterward purchased, remodeled and enlarged, making aone story drill room forty feet in width by one hundredfeet in length with a two story front. This building islocated north of 4th, on Locust street. During the first few years, each member was asses-sed $ membership fee and an additional sum annual-ly.
